Paris, Amstelveen, 5 May 2017 – Ray Flower has been appointed Head of Technical College of KLM UK Engineering Limited as of 1st March. KLM UK Engineering is a wholly-owned AFI KLM E&M subsidiary specialising in maintenance & training solutions for regional and narrow-body aircraft fleets. Ray Flower started his career in 1979 and has carried out many aviation training roles within the industry over the last 30 years. Ray’s latest roles include Head of Aviation at Kingston University & Chief Academic Officer (CAO) for Al Ain International Aviation Academy (AAIAA) in the UAE, Engineering Head at Qatar Aeronautical College & Head of Aeronautical Engineering at MTC Oman.

On learning of his appointment, Ray Flower said: “I am very proud to be returning to KLM UK Engineering Limited as Head of Technical College. With my previous experience with the Company and the newly acquired knowledge over the last few years in the Middle East I will bring a valuable contribution to both KLMUKE and its students. Being part of the new International Aviation Academy – Norwich and helping to educate and inspire the next generation of aviation engineers is an exciting prospect and I look forward to the challenge ahead, as well as continuing to support the training of our current staff within the MRO’.

Signs Virtual Learning Environment Contract for Part 66 Exams

 Paris, Amstelveen, Norwich – 13 January 2017 – KLM UK Engineering is delighted to announce the signing of a long term partnership with Kris Sakti Aviation (Malaysia) for the provision of EASA Part 147 exams supported by KLM UK Engineering’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) software.

Under the agreement, KLM UK Engineering (KLMUKE) will support Kris Sakti Aviation by providing experienced examiners to accompany its VLE product, allowing the students to gain their EASA Part 66 B Licence, while helping them to grow as a centre of excellence for the next generation of engineers.

 With over 220 students graduating each year, the programme is equipping the aviation industry with skilled, qualified and competent engineers for the next generation.

 In Kuala Lumpur, Dato’ Sri Mahmud Taib, the chairman of KS Holdings and KS Angkasamudra said: “Aviation engineers are highly trained professionals and with the support of KLMUKE we will provide training and develop individuals to become knowledgeable, skilled and competent. This mutually beneficial collaboration and smart partnership with KLMUKE utilizing their VLE products will enable the trainees to be fast tracked and obtain their EASA part 66 B licences, while helping to grow the next generation of aircraft maintenance engineers which is urgently required in the aviation industry.”

 Whilst Peter Van Der Horst, Managing Director of KLMUKE added: “The partnership with KS Angkasamudra is a huge step forward in our aim to connect KLMUKE’s VLE products to many young engineers in the UK and abroad. The industry needs many good engineers for the future to accommodate the growing worldwide fleet and to replace inevitable retirements. KLMUKE wants to leverage its knowledge and experience and connect many more universities and aviation academies to its growing educational centre. This centre will be located within the International Aviation Academy in Norwich from April 2017“

KLM UK Engineering is Awarded Corendon Dutch Airlines Base Maintenance Check

 KLM UK Engineering is delighted to announce that they have been awarded Two Heavy Maintenance Checks for Corendon Dutch Airlines on their Boeing 737-800’s commencing in December 2016. 

KLM UK Engineering is excited to announce that Corendon Dutch Airlines has signed a contract for two heavy maintenance checks during 2016 & 2017 on their Boeing 737-800’s as well as signing a long term GTA. This news follows the new deal with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) to provide Corendon Airlines Turkey and Corendon Dutch Airlines with engine maintenance services for twelve CFM56-7B engines in their fleets. 

Peter van der Horst, Managing Director of KLM UK, said: ‘It is great news to have been awarded Corendon Dutch Airlines heavy maintenance checks and it allows KLMUKE to build on the existing group relationships and we look forward to working closely with Corendon for many years to come’.

Embaer Base Maintenance Approval Awarded to KLM UK Engineering Limited

KLM UK Engineering Limited is Delighted to Announce the Addition of the Embraer 170/190 Approval to its Base Maintenance Portfolio from October 2016.

 A European leader in the regional jets & narrow body aircraft market and having an internationally acknowledged expertise on the BAe146/Avro RJ, Fokker 70/100, Boeing 737 & Airbus A320 Family, KLM UK Engineering has extended its services to include the Embraer 170/190 Family to meet the growing demands from its customer base. This latest offering compliments the existing portfolio at KLM UK Engineering’s facility, where it can maintain 5 lines of heavy maintenance, provide onsite workshop support and operates a technical training college delivering Part147.

Paris, Amstelveen, 29 June 2016 –Peter van der Horst has been appointed Managing Director of KLM UK Engineering Limited as of 1st July. KLM UK Engineering is a wholly-owned AFI KLM E&M subsidiary specialising in maintenance solutions for regional and narrow-body aircraft fleets. Peter van der Horst started his career in 1985 with Martinair where he held several operational management positions followed by: Director Cargo Operations, Director Aircraft Maintenance, Director Technical Operations and VP Maintenance and Engineering. In 2013 he moved to KLM E&M and was appointed as VP Line Maintenance.

On learning of his appointment, Peter van der Horst said: “I am very proud to be appointed Managing Director of KLM UK Engineering Limited. I hope that the knowledge acquired in my previous functions will bring a valuable contribution to KLM UK and its clients. Quality and predictability of an MRO services provider are extremely important factors for guaranteeing the operational performance of an airline. Therefore my aim is to continuously improve and adapt our services to the expectations of our clients.”
