The Role

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for an Aviation Technical Training Instructor with a background in airframes, systems, and engines to join our Technical College team. This role is based at the International Aviation Academy Norwich and is Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out effective training course delivery (both theoretical and practical) in accordance with EC 1321/2014 Annex III Pt 66 and Annex IV, Pt 147 requirements; and HE / Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards.
  • Maintain effective lessons support materials to meet Learning Objectives.
  • When required to train away from base, ensure programme delivery and 3rd party premises remain compliant with relevant requirements.
  • Undertake the duties of an approved Examiner, exam question compiler, practical assessor, and Invigilator.
  • Ensure that practical training sessions are conducted in accordance with maintenance procedures and are undertaken in a safe manner.
  • When appointed to manage a subject or module, carry out annual reviews of assessment criteria in accordance with Pt 147 / Part 66 requirements.
  • Maintain currency in subject areas and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of new trends and technologies in relation to the aviation industry and instructional techniques/methodologies to ensure training materials reflect current and emerging technologies.
  • Remain compliant with Part 147 continuation and compliance training requirements.
  • Undertake training course design, including Training Needs Analysis, setting of Learning Objectives and Enabling Objectives including the development of all supporting course materials.
  • Undertake timely and effective post training course delivery evaluations, ensuring that training course materials remain accurate and current.
  • Understand the purpose of and comply with the Company’s internal safety reporting scheme (Occurrence Reports) and safety investigations in order to improve safety.
  • Provide effective course preparation and planning in accordance with training schedules.
  • Assist College management with operational and strategic planning related to type course delivery.
Profile

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will:

  • Have either:
    • o A Part 66 Certifying Technician license.
    • o An EASA or CAA Part 147 training certificate.
    • o An aircraft apprenticeship (or equivalent) with the UK Armed Forces, or an approved EU or UK airline/MRO.
    • o An MTO holding a foreign Part 145 or Part 147 approval.
  • Have knowledge of training design and planning with a thorough understanding of instructional techniques, training methods and delivery techniques.
  • Understand Part 147 and Part 66 Legislation.
  • Proven experience in aircraft engineering with airframes, systems, and engines.
  • Have 2 years instructional experience (desirable)
  • Have the ability to appraise, mentor and develop others.
  • Be a strong communicator and communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully at all times.
  • Be active in improving processes with a positive attitude to continuous improvement.
  • Be competent with the use of IT systems.

Licensed aircraft engineer with minimum 3 years of Line Maintenance certifying experience.

The Role

To support the Company’s continued growth following the opening of our new hangar, we have an exciting permanent opportunity for a B1 Licenced Aircraft Engineer. This role is based at our Norwich Airport Facility and will require leading a team of mechanics efficiently and safely in performing aircraft maintenance tasks in accordance with approved data whilst ensuring compliance with H&S and airworthiness standards.

These positions are permanent, full time working 38.5 hours per week, operating various shift patterns.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft Base Maintenance tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Project Manager in line with the aircraft maintenance data and Aircraft Project Plan.
  • Perform aircraft inspections, fault diagnosis, defect rectification, repairs, component replacement and functional testing etc.
  • Allocate Mechanic resource to ensure maintenance tasks are completed within budget and on time in line with contractual agreements.
  • Ensure timely identification of risks, swift escalation and solution to supervisor.
  • Lead by example, create and develop an effective and motivated team.
  • Follow company Health & Safety policies at all times. Report all accidents and near misses.
  • Good housekeeping and clean environment maintained at all times.
  • Ensure self and team members follow approved data at all times.
  • Ensure all work performed on an aircraft is documented with the appropriate level of detail.
  • Ensure handovers are robust and effective.
  • Ensure all personal tools are maintained and controlled according to company policy.
  • Promote and report airworthiness safety concerns through the internal safety reporting system.
Profile

Knowledge, Education & Experience:

UK CAA or EASA B1 licenced engineer with proven experience exercising certification privileges.

Hold at least one of the following Aircraft Type Approvals: 737 NG, Max or Embraer 170/190.

Proven experience in an aircraft Base Maintenance environment.

Human Factors, Fuel Tank safety training and EWIS training.

Good knowledge and understanding of CAA/EASA regulations and HSE legislation.

Basic IT knowledge/experience.

Work Experience

Work Experience

KLM UK Engineering Limited can offer limited work experience opportunities at our Norwich site.  Our work experience student placements take place from mid-May to mid-July and are reviewed on a case by case basis.  Places are not automatically guaranteed as your application will need to be reviewed fully and you will be contacted by the HR department to discuss this further.
