The Role

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for an Apprenticeship Administrator to join our Technical College team. The successful candidate will support the Head of Technical College and Apprenticeship Delivery Manager to coordinate the Apprentice programme, ensuring that managers, colleagues and apprentices are aware of their responsibilities and commitments at each stage of the programme. This position is based at the International Aviation Academy Norwich and is Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the onboarding and induction of all new apprentices.
  • Act as the main point of contact for apprentices, employers, and training providers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers to understand their training needs and requirements.
  • Support the Head of College and Apprenticeship Delivery Manager in ensuring all training activities comply with relevant legislation and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates pertaining to apprentices' attendance, and achievements.
  • Obtain information in relation to learners’ attainment (via PLRs), disseminating this to relevant staff as required.
  • Work with the Head of Technical College and Apprenticeship Delivery Manager to formulate intervention strategies for learners based on their prior and current data.
  • Address any issues or concerns that arise, working collaboratively to find solutions.
  • Support Human Resources to coordinate the onboarding and induction of all new apprentices.
  • Schedule training sessions, assessments, and reviews
  • Facilitate 2-way feedback between the apprentices and the relevant business departments and educational establishments and provide up to date and accurate monitoring and evaluation data where appropriate.
  • Where directed by the Head of Technical College to work alongside the Sales and Marketing team and Technical College to support external events and promotional activities relating to our apprenticeship scheme.
  • Provide timely oversight and data related to the digital levy account and monitor and record spend against the KLM UK Engineering levy, budget and assist Head of College and Finance Department in forecasting future activity.

Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours

The Successful Candidate

  • A suitably qualified and experienced administrator.
  • Strong IT skills, in particular, intermediate excel and experience of creating and maintaining OneNote Notebooks. (Experience of DfE reporting systems would be desirable but not essential).
  • An up-to-date knowledge of apprenticeships, their delivery and the apprenticeship levy system would be desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with apprenticeships and/or learning providers is advantageous but not essential.
  • The ability to support the organisation and coordination of the apprenticeship programme and utilise all available tools and resources where required.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to vary style and approach according to the audience and situation, working with integrity and honesty to build effective relationships.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Non-Destructive Testing Supervisor to join our team. As a Non-Destructive Testing Supervisor, you will lead a small team of NDT Inspectors to provide an efficient and effective service to the department's internal and external customers. If you hold Non-Destructive Testing approvals and are looking for your next step in your career, we want to hear from you. This role is based at our head office at Norwich Airport, working Monday – Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and performance management of NDT Inspectors and trainees.
  • Pre-planning, researching, paperwork processing, spares/tool ordering, completing and certification of NDT related tasks.
  • Monitoring quality, cost and overall performance of NDT tasks, taking appropriate action to address any non-performance.
  • Ensure company procedures followed and report any issues using the company reporting system.
  • Ensuring that all NDT related tasks are carried out safely and to the required Health & Safety standards.
  • Timely and effective closure of audit findings.
  • Ensuring NDT staff maintain a current approval by monitoring expiry dates of qualifications, recency records, eye tests and recurrent training.
  • Ensuring all NDT related tooling and equipment are in calibration and maintained correctly.
  • Liaising with NDT Level 3 responsible person.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Completed a recognised aeronautical apprenticeship (Civil or military)
  • Demonstrable experience in an aircraft maintenance or similar environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of Eddy current, Ultrasonic, Dye Penetrant Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection and UT Phased Array.
  • Multiple Non-Destructive Testing approvals.
  • Familiarity of Boeing 737, BAe 146 and Embraer aircraft NDT techniques.
  • Understanding of EASA/CAA, Health Safety & Environmental legislation and Employment Legislation would be desirable.
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience in relevant environment.

The Role

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for the role of Aviation Technical Training Instructor to join our Technical College team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about passing on their knowledge and skills to the next generation of Aviation Engineers, building the foundations for the future of the Aviation Industry. This position is based at the International Aviation Academy Norwich and is Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver approved aircraft basic training courses (both theoretical and practical) in compliance with national and international regulatory requirements and standards; and DFE / Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards.
  • Maintain effective lessons support materials to meet Learning Objectives.
  • Undertake the duties of an approved Examiner, exam question compiler, practical assessor, and Invigilator.
  • Ensure that practical training sessions are conducted in accordance with maintenance procedures and are undertaken in a safe manner.
  • When appointed to manage a subject or module, carry out annual reviews of assessment criteria in accordance with Part 66 / Part 147 requirements.
  • Maintain currency in subject areas and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of new trends and technologies in relation to the aviation industry and instructional techniques/methodologies to ensure training materials reflect current and emerging technologies.
  • Remain compliant with Part 147 continuation and compliance training requirements.
  • Undertake training course design, including Training Needs Analysis, setting of Learning Objectives and Enabling Objectives including the development of all supporting course materials.
  • Undertake timely and effective post training course delivery evaluations, ensuring that training course materials remain accurate and current.
  • Understand the purpose of and comply with the Company’s internal safety reporting scheme (Occurrence Reports) and safety investigations in order to improve safety.
  • Provide effective course preparation and planning in accordance with training schedules.
  • Assist College management with operational and strategic planning related to type course delivery.
  • If required to train away from base, ensure programme delivery and 3rd party premises remain compliant with relevant requirements.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have either:
    • o A Part 66 Certifying Technician license.
    • o An EASA or CAA Part 147 training certificate of recognition.
  • Have proven experience in aircraft engineering (minimum of 1 year’s civil aviation experience gained in a Base Maintenance AMO or Aviation Engineering Department).
  • Have a sound understanding of Part 66 and Part 147 Legislation.
  • Have instructional experience, with a formal qualification or Train the Trainer Course (desirable as training can/will be given).

The Role

To support the Company’s continued growth, we have an exciting permanent opportunity for a B1 Licenced Aircraft Engineer. This role is based at our Norwich Airport Facility and will require leading a team of mechanics efficiently and safely in performing aircraft maintenance tasks in accordance with approved data whilst ensuring compliance with H&S and airworthiness standards.

These positions are permanent, full time working 38.5 hours per week, operating various shift patterns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft Base Maintenance tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Project Manager in line with the aircraft maintenance data and Aircraft Project Plan.
  • Perform aircraft inspections, fault diagnosis, defect rectification, repairs, component replacement and functional testing etc.
  • Allocate Mechanic resource to ensure maintenance tasks are completed within budget and on time in line with contractual agreements.
  • Ensure timely identification of risks, swift escalation, and solution to supervisor.
  • Lead by example, create and develop an effective and motivated team.
  • Follow company Health & Safety policies at all times. Report all accidents and near misses.
  • Good housekeeping and clean environment maintained at all times.

In this role you will provide KLM UK Engineering customers with a safe, efficient, and cost-effective service to satisfy contractual obligations. You will have direct responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the line station in accordance with company procedures, health and safety and airworthiness standards.

  • Proven experience in an Aircraft Line Maintenance environment with proven people management skills.
  • Licensed aircraft engineer with minimum 3 years of Line Maintenance certifying experience.

Work Experience

KLM UK Engineering Limited can offer limited work experience opportunities at our Norwich site.  Our work experience student placements take place from mid-May to mid-July and are reviewed on a case by case basis.  Places are not automatically guaranteed as your application will need to be reviewed fully and you will be contacted by the HR department to discuss this further.
